Puso Sa Puso Charity Christmas Party 2008
This project was conceived when several of us with a passion for photography visited Parola earlier this year. What we experienced and saw led us to ask what we might do for the children of Parola. Our first intention was to host a party for about fifty children of the area.
The impact of the photos triggered a response in many who saw our work, and a proposed project grew from fifty to five hundred children. Surprisingly as many who saw the photos wanted to be a part of our plans. After much discussion with friends, it was felt that a pre-Christmas party would be an appropriate way to show our appreciation for the way we had been received in Parola. Someone voiced the Gospel quote, “Let the little children come to Me.â€
Already many friends have stepped forward and expressed their willingness to assist in this project. They have volunteered with time, talent, and treasure to make this event one to be remembered, both for the volunteers, and for the children of Parola as well.
What started out as just a hobby in photography, paved the way for “Puso sa Puso†a charity event for 500 kids of Parola, Binondo. Fr. Artur never expected that his photographic portrayals of Parola would encourage hundreds of volunteers and sponsors to come forward and help in organizing a Christmas party for Parola’s youngsters. The event was a success when it finally pushed through last December 6 at the Del Pan Sports Complex in Manila. There were clowns, face painting, games, food, and gifts, all from various groups and individuals all too willing to help and contribute.
Among the generous volunteers were Christian Inocencio, The Society of the Divine Savior, Chef Giorgio Bucciarelli, photography groups FSCC ( Frame Shots Camera Club) EON, SNS and Chinese General Hospital doctors and nurses, AMA Pasig students, BP International, and members form Cinema One Originals 2008 film UPCAT production team and Barangay officials.
